Personal Side

A good week of cookies and so much more....

Sometimes taking a step back helps you re-evaluate things you are too close to.

The last week I've really thought about why I do what I do.....
and I've concluded that it is to bring the Lord glory first of ALL......
and then to bring others joy.

It is NOT about how much people like me or my cookies.
It is not about numbers.....nor about competing with others.

It is a gift filled with joy.....and should be used wisely.
I pray I can be wise in all that God has given me. :)

This week I did ice cream cookies.......pure fun!
I can't wait to share them with you.

Happy Friday!!!

Side-by-Side......real cake and the cookie version. 😊
It's hard to believe this was just two weeks ago! Happy Saturday.

Flag Day was Saturday.....you know what's soon to follow.
Happy Monday!!

To say I'm having fun with this week's theme would be a major understatement....

A favorite.....the effect I was going for worked.
I love when that happens!

Fun photo shoot about to happen here today....

Happy Fathers Day 2014! .......in Cookies

It's time to celebrate Dad!

I took the vintage approach this year......thinking about things from my grandpa and dad's eras.
It was a bunch of fun.

I hope all dads, fathers, and "pappa"s out there enjoy their day. :)

Personal Side

This week I've been working on the Bible study for August's Ukraine women's retreat.
I guess that has made me very reflective.
The Bible study will be an overview of the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan.
God's crazy about us......and our response should coincide with that love.

I'm excited about going to Ukraine.
Even though the environment in part of the country is not at rest.......there is much opportunity.
And I feel drawn to pull out the basics and remember what really matters in life.

Papa's Smoking Pipe Cookies (Tutorial)

This pipe cookie fit in perfectly with the vintage Father's Day cookie collection.

Can you guess which cutter I used for the pipes?

If you guessed the birthday party blower cutter, you would be correct. :)

Outline and flood the stem of the pipe (narrow end) with dark brown 10-second glaze, and
pipe shank & bowl with medium brown 10-second glaze as seen in photo below.

Allow it to dry for about one hour.
Add the silver mid-band with gray 10-second glaze (see photo).

To add dimension to the bowl, outline and flood ONLY the bowl as shown below.

After at least 30 minutes dry time, add an outline around top of the bowl (tobacco chamber).

Dry cookies overnight.

Using a mixture of silver luster dust and vodka (or almond extract), paint over the mid-band.

If desired, add some food color marker lines on the bowl as seen in the front pipe cookie.

For the vintage feel, lightly airbrush the pipe from one side with black airbrush color
