There’s something so whimsical about Christmas. I remember getting so excited during the season when my kids were little. And now…..my excitement transfers to my grandchildren. I am looking forward to when they are old enough to decorate cookies with me. Oh the memories…..

Christmas Joy Decorated Sugar Cookie Collection

If you’ve followed my site for long, you know that I decorate seasonal cookies far ahead of schedule…..just to be on top of blog posts, tutorials, classes, etc. So this final set of Christmas cookies for 2018 was created back in September.

August and September of 2018 have been a crazy time for me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and found myself with a new “full time job” of fighting cancer. I barely had any time to decorate cookies. But I was determined to do as many sets as I could despite the lack of time and energy.

The day after I finished these cookies, I had my surgery (mastectomy). I remember putting the final touches on these cookies and pushing myself to get them done because I wasn’t sure when I would get back to decorating.

These are definitely not my best work….and the photos were hurried and forced. But they are part of my journey. I guess it is interesting to chronicle your life by cookies. ;)

Christmas holds such a special place in my heart. And I’m glad I got to dwell on all it means while I contemplated one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. These little bites of joy brought delight and distraction to my heart as I dreaded the upcoming procedure. And it makes my heart happy that I was able to do something I love despite the circumstances. ❤️

May our Christmas season be especially blessed as we contemplate what life really means and cherish every moment we are given.

Decorating Christmas Cookies Collection

As I thought through all the possibilities of shapes to do for Christmas…..it seemed like “decorating Christmas cookies” was a perfect theme.

That’s how I started decorating cookies. My dad made it an event every year when I was a little girl. My whole family did it together. And boy did we have fun…and make lots of memories!

Even though the Christmas season is jammed packed with so many extra activities…..make some time to decorate cookies with the ones you love. It will be worth every second.

Gingerbread cookies are the cutest.......but they also fill the house with the "smell of Christmas". Everytime I bake them, the nostalgia comes over me as I open that oven door and catch a waft of that spic-y cinnamon-y yumm-y smell that immediately reminds me of Christmas memories.

Here's the "official" gingerbread cookie set of the season, complete with several ginger people, a house, and lots of "merry-ness". ❤️

What a beautiful season it has been already.
I'm so thankful to God for this time of year.
It is always a reminder of how good He is and how much He has given us.

Surrounding ourselves with so many wonderful memories......
along with all the delightful tastes, smells, sights, and sounds of Christmas,
it is such a great time to reflect on our lives and relish these moments.
