Shirt & Tie Decorated Cookie (Tutorial)

Shirt & Tie Cookies work well for a variety of special occasions. A friend asked for this theme to celebrate a milestone in her son's life.

Several shapes can be used for this cookie. I used coat shaped cutter for the full long sleeved version (not able to link the cutter here). You could also use a plain rectangle cookie.

My favorite shape was achieved by cutting the bow loops off of SugarBelle's gift cutter using the curved edger also found in the ShapeShifters set. (see photo below)

Since the dress shirt is white, the easiest way to decorate these cookies is all in white glaze.....adding all the details including the tie in layers (with dry time in between).
(see video for details)

Once the glaze has dried overnight, use food color markers to color the ties.

Fairly simple.....and definitely fun. :)

Personal Side

Last weekend I attempted TWO sets of cookies.....and it was wild.
But everything went well and I was able to complete the sets.

I'm working four days a week at the doctors office now and it's becoming
more common for me to work 6 hours in a day.
So needless to say.....my time is limited compared to the beginning of the year.
I'm trying to plan my week for one cookie set each weekend, but that is becoming challenging.
We'll see. :)

GOOD NEWS that I can FINALLY share with all of you.
I'm going to be a GRAMMY!
I'm so excited that my first born daughter, Jill, is expecting her little "chocolate chip" in December.
I've been nearly bursting with the news for over a month, but I can finally share now.
Oh the cookies I can make for this little one. :)
(Spoken just like a cookie decorator.....)

King of the Grill BBQ Decorated Cookie Collection - Fathers Day 2016

BBQ Kabob Decorated Cookie (Tutorial)

When dreaming about a BBQ cookie set for Fathers Day, a kabob cookie came to mind.

And with the help of Ronee of That's A Nice Cookie Cutter, a kabob cookie cutter was born.

This cookie requires green, yellow, red, brown, white, and gray icing colors.

Start with the outer three veggies (green pepper, mushroom, and cherry tomato)
by outlining and flooding them as photo shows below.

Next add the steak (brown) and yellow pepper.

Allow the cookie to dry for at least 1 hour (to prevent bleeding).

Add the metal (gray) kabob stick.
(see photo below)

Allow the cookies to dry overnight.

Make a mixture of silver luster dust with some vodka or clear extract (i.e. almond).
Paint over all the parts of the kabob stick.

Use a brown food color marker to make some grill lines on the veggies and meat.
(see photo below)
