Personal Side

An interesting week......filled with snow.....being home bound....delays, etc.
But I had lots of time to make some fun snow-related cookies....the important things, you know!

We had near blizzard conditions on Sunday here in Missouri.
With 10" of snow, immediately followed by super cold temps (wind chills minus 30),
it was quite the weather out there.
My first day out was Tuesday......and even then, the roads were passable but a bit scary.

Things are fairly back to normal now (except for the huge piles of snow everywhere).
We're going to have above freezing temps these next several days,
plus some rain.....so I think everything will get washed away soon.

My son, Keith, was finally able to fly out on Tuesday.
It took him all day to finally get out of St. Louis......
and reach his destination in Florida.
Poor guy.....he had to start school early the next morning.

I'm starting to think Valentines Day cookies. :)
This next week......red, pink, and white become the standard. haha

I have blessings beyond measure......and am so thankful. :)

Instagram photos for this week:

After Christmas shopping goodness at JoAnn's.
Happy...Happy...Happy!

One of my weaknesses this holiday season.....my sister brought me her specialties....
biscotti, Italian sesame cookies, and poppyseed thumbprints (not shown).
I ate a few, just because it's only once a year, and then gave the rest away.
They were delicious!!!
(I don't eat grains, so this was beyond decadent for me.)

What to do during a blizzard in January, you ask?
Why.....bake cookies of course!

Outside my house today..... Big snowdrifts from 10" of snow yesterday.
It's -7 degrees with -30 windchill.
Hubby's work is closed.
My son's flight back to college today is canceled this morning.
Everyone's home. :)
I'm still going to attempt to decorate some winter cookies.
Happy BRRRR..... Monday.

We're having a SNOW party this week.
The weather is perfect for it.....

Winter Scarf Cookies (Tutorial)

I wanted to make "snowman parts" for a fun cookie platter.......
and when thinking about a shape for a scarf.....the awareness ribbon cutter came to mind.
Since I made these weeks ago, I've noticed that others used that cutter for scarves this year too.
We're like-minded.....that's for sure. :)

To make the scarf have a more 3D look about it, add the bottom end of the scarf first.

Once it has dried for 30+ min, add the loop and top end of the scarf (see photo).

Scarves come in all kinds of colors and patterns......so have fun making your own unique designs.

This is just one piece of the snowman building puzzle.
Stay tuned.....
