Personal Side

I've been busy decorating cookies this week and developing a new recipe.

This week's theme was BBQ cookies and I had the privilege to try out a bunch of new cookie shapes.
That's always a huge joy!

The recipe I'm working on is a new simple grain-free roll out sugar cookie recipe.
I have one on the blog from a few years ago.....but I've never been quite happy with it.
I'm thrilled to announce that this new recipe was a huge hit the other day.......
and I'll be rolling it out (pun intended) on the blog in the coming days.
Stay tuned!

Spring is here....and oh is it glorious!
The one lone tulip by my front porch is a wonder.
I just stare at it and marvel at God's handiwork.
I'm anxious to continue to see beautiful blooms popping up everywhere.

Lots of exciting cookies sets coming up.
I've got pages of written plans.....now just to implement them. ;)

Instagram photos for this week:

Happy Friday!

Today's number of icing colors added a notch to the CRAZIE today. ;)

All that work for lots of glaze colors yesterday was worth it in the end.
And the cookies make me want to go out and grill and have a picnic on this beautiful Saturday!

Happy Sunday!

Today is a perfect day for a kite!

Another gorgeous day here.....wanna go for a picnic?

2016 Quilt Decorated Cookie Collection

Every once in a while I have to stop and make some cookies related to quilts.
It's just in my blood, I guess. :)

This time I was able to incorporate a few new patterns I've been eyeing for some time now.....

This certainly will not be my last time making quilt cookies. haha

Cathedral Window Quilt Pattern Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

I saw this cool Instagram post by ASpoonfulSugar and
knew immediately I wanted to try to cookie-fy this quilted pattern. :)
It's called Cathedral Window pattern.

The hardest part is cutting the "quilt blocks" with cookie dough.
A custom cutter and embosser would be nice, but for now, I used a standard circle cutter.
It's a little tricky and not super precise, but it's doable.
(see photos below)

Once the cookies are baked and cooled, outline and flood all the "football" shapes in white glaze.
(see photos below)

Next, add colored glaze (and patterns, if you'd like) to the inner "cross" shape of each circle.
(see photo below)

After the white glaze has dried for at least 30 minutes,
add an additional layer of white glaze to the outer edges of each "football" shape.
(see photos below)

Such a pretty quilt pattern.......
