Personal Side

I did a small batch of cookies this week.....and did several experiments.
I discovered something new that I'm super excited about!
Glaze icing is so fun to work with. :)

Now I need to turn all my attention toward preparation for CookieCon.
There are class notes to make, lists to make (yes, I'm a list maker!),
cookies to bake and decorating, gifts to make, packing, packing, packing.....etc.
And once again, anticipation is the best part!
I am so excited about this third CookieCon. :)

And more good news......September is next week, and that means AUTUMN!!!!
That's my favorite time of year.

Last CookieCrazie Chatter....

Jake's Baseball Cookie Collection

My new son-in-law, Jake, just had a birthday a few months ago.
This was his first birthday celebrating with a cookiecrazie mother-in-law. ;)

Since he is CRAZIE about St. Louis Cardinal baseball.....
I wanted to make him some appropriate cookies for his special day.

This is Jake in his happy place......taken at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Happy Belated Birthday Day, Jake.
I think you're awesome!

Baseball Cookies (Tutorial)

I'm not much of a sports person.
But my son-in-law loves baseball.
And since I'll do just about anything for my family.......
here's some crazie vintage-y baseball cookies. :)

The cookie shape is easy.......circles!

Outline and flood a portion of the circle in white glaze as shown below.
There's more than one pattern....so choose which works best for you.

Allow the initial flood to dry at least 30 minutes......
and then flood the remaining portion.

Once the cookies have dried for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours,
poke stitch holes along the seams with a cake tester as shown below.

Add red stitches from the stitch hole to the seam on just one side of the seam.
(see baseball on left below)
After the initial stitches have dried at least 15 minutes, add the opposite sides stitches.

Dry overnight.

Add a vintage-feel to the dried baseball cookies with some luster dust.
Any of these colors will work well..... chocolate, deep brown, or caramel
(Caramel is my new favorite!)
