Autumn Button Cookies (Tutorial)

Buttons........another thing I love.
They go perfectly with quilts and stitches and patchwork......you get the picture. ;)

Buttons come in all shapes and sizes.

This collection definitely has a fall/harvest theme.

Circle buttons are simple enough.
Cut out a circle and using something cylindrical, make holes in the button before baking.

If you'd like more variety, find some mini cutters that fit your theme.
Cut them out and add some button holes to them.

You can color the dough before baking to make decorating super simple.

Or leave them plain and then outline and flood them with 10 second glaze.

Another simple option is to paint the tops of the plain baked cookies with gel colors.
(I used airbrush colors......but regular gel will probably work just as well.)

After you get them just the way you want them......add the stitches in between the button holes.

That's button cookie heaven......right there. :)
