Red Velvet Cake......a flavor I've not really had opinion about one way or another in the past.
But my newest son-in-law, Joe, is CRAZIE about red velvet ANYthing.
And so.....being the crazie mother-in-law that I am, haha,
I had to make him some red velvet cookies.
Now these are not just red velvet-flavored cookies with cream cheese-flavored glaze.......
they also LOOK like red velvet cakes and cupcakes.
I've got to keep up the reputation with the newest member of our family, ya know. ;)
After researching red velvet cut-out cookies, I decided to try SugarBelle's recipe.
Her recipe includes Lorann's Red Velvet Emulsion.
And then I had the idea to add Lorann's Cream Cheese Emulsion to my glaze recipe.
This just in from the official taste testers........the combination is declared a winner. :)
Upon researching photos of red velvet concoctions,
it seemed reasonable to grate some naked red velvet cookies and use them as a garnish.
The filler cookies in the birthday cookie platter were rectangle cookies,
flooded with white (cream cheese-flavored) glaze, and red velvet cookie crumbs sprinkled on top.
Adding a tiny amount of water to white edible clay allowed me to pipe
fun decorations on the red velvet "cake on a pedestal" cookie. :)
