Autumn Produce Crate Cookie (Tutorial)

This happy little crate cookie is pretty versatile.
It can hold whatever your heart desires.
It fits right into a rustic autumn theme.....

The first time I decorated it, I put apples in the crate.
But for this tutorial, I plopped some pumpkins in it.
It seemed fitting for the month of October. :)

The CookieCrazie Custom Cutter set includes three parts.
By having a background cookie, the crate becomes more 3D-ish.

Cut out both the back and front parts of the crate.
And then use the tiny little oval cutter to cute out a handle in the front cookie.

Once baked, glue the two cookies together with some icing piped on the back of the front cutter.

Outline and flood the front of the crate as shown below with brown 10-second glaze.

Be sure to add some brown glaze to the parts of the background cookie that peek out the sides.

Allow the glaze to dry for about 1 hour.
Outline and flood the wood panels of the crate as shown below.

With orange glaze, add some pumpkins onto the background cookie......
peeking out of the top of the crate.
Be sure to add corresponding pumpkin bottoms inside the handle.

Once the glaze has dried for about 3 hours, use a bark texture mat to
give the wood panels some texture.
Also use a cake tester to add some lines to the pumpkins and stems.

Dry overnight
Mixing some brown, white, and gold food color gel, paint some "character" onto the wood panels.

Here's the apple crate cookie.....
