Buggin' Out: Ladybug Cookies (Tutorial)

There's just something about ladybugs that makes me smile.
I can't say that about very many bugs. haha

The idea that God made a bug with a red shell and black polka dots......
is AWESOME!

I saw a really cute felt lady bug idea here.
Which gave me an idea.....
Why not make a lady bug in two parts?

Which gave me another idea......
Why not make a whole bunch of bugs in 2D?

And this was the beginning of my "Buggin' Out" Cookie Collection....

You only need two circle cookies for each 2D Ladybug.

First, a larger one for the body (I used a 3" diameter cutter.)
Outline and flood it in red glaze and add black polka-dots while the base is still wet.
And then you need a smaller circle cookie for the head (I used a 1 1/2" diameter).
Outline and flood it in black glaze.
While the glaze is still wet, put two large white candy pearls in place for the eyes.
Add a dot of black glaze to each "eyeball" for the pupil.
And then add a large black candy pearl for the nose.

After the body has dried a few hours, add a black stripe down the middle.

And then it is time to assemble the ladybugs.
Just add some glaze to the back of the "head" cookie.
(Make sure the ladybug's face is in the right direction before adding the "glue".)

Then attach the head to the body cookie and allow it to dry overnight.

And there they are.....adorable ladies all ready for a party.
